Celeste turns things on their head at school by standing up to the bully and for the children being bullied and draws the attention of the teachers to what is going on. This book is a dynamic read, with enjoyable splashes of humour and the subject matter creates lots of food for thought and further discussion.
I read this book in Year 3 Guided Reading sessions and found it contained lots of opportunities to ask questions on forming opinions and conclusions from the text. All in all, although not my favourite Anne Fine book, it is well worth a read.
Mixed responses around a tale about school bullying. Some of the attitudes in this book have not aged well - particularly the teachers' victim-blaming comments towards Mark and negligence around Marigold, plus the book's body-shaming towards Penny. The humour in the story keeps it from becoming too gloomy, and the illustrations add visual interest. It is well-paced and a good length for younger readers. Christian readers, too, will no doubt appreciate the angel theme and the Bible quotation at the beginning. Overall, worth keeping in a collection, with the proviso that discussion is needed around some elements. I loved the book because I love angels. The book was almost about not to bully and be brave and don't complain at your teacher!!! The Angel of Nitshill Road was a book I read back in primary school, year 4, and it quickly became a solid favourite.
A new girl has arrived at school, and she's absolutely beautiful. Everyone loves her - except the school bully.

Why is she always writing in her notebook with her special pen? The possibilities are endless. Honestly, I don't remember much about this book myself. I don't remember a lot about this other than one thing: I was totally enamoured with this, and I read it pretty much five times in a single week. Anne Fine worked wonders with this book, and did an amazing job. It's not often I recommend children's books, but this one is a must read for everyone. Jan 23, Shima Uddin rated it it was amazing. I read this book during my SBT1.

I really enjoyed this book and used it for a literacy lesson during anti-bullying week. The book was a about a girl who was new to the school called Celete, who would stand up to the school bully and would stand up for children in the school that were being bullied.

The book goes on to describe her as looking very angelic, with the most beautiful hair and clothes. The impact of the influence that she has on the other children in her school is very significant as I read this book during my SBT1.

But one day, unable to get to the library in a snowstorm, she sat down and started to write a novel.
