Fantastic book on managing finances according to God's plan and design. Despite having read many other books on the topic, this one changed my perspective forever, and we've already experienced the Lord's blessing as a result of applying the principals outlined in this book. Highly recommended for someone is in trouble for unable to save. This book is an excellent book on money management, written in an easy to follow style, and related continuously to modern life and all of the trappings and consequences of the "keep up with the Jones" lifestyle. This book lets the reader see why Christ taught that the love of money is the root of all evil, and that man can only serve one master.

So what is a faithful steward to do? The real cost of debt. A 30 year mortgage from Pagibig would cost you three times the original cost in 30 years. Many borrow to raise their life style, but it brings on control of your lifestyle. Scripture calls it a curse. Owe no man anything, Pay all your debts. Keep out of debt and owe no man anything. Just as the rich rule the poor, so the borrower is servant to the lender. Debt may deny God an opportunity. God may have other plans for provision. Borrowing may cut off the opportunity to provide.
It is a good idea to send your creditor your repayment schedule. Decide which to pay off first based on two factors: After you pay off the first debt apply payment to the second debt, and so forth. God uses scripture as a means to give direction and truth. If scripture gives an answer, we need go no further. If it is not specific, we go to a second source. Paul, confronted by Christ on the Damascus road was told to get counsel and he did; all his ministry Paul identified with a team.
Paul discusses this in terms of the body of Christ. Each of us have been given different abilities and gifts. Husband and wife are one and they counsel each other. This keeps communication open and informed on the financial condition. It is practical, if one becomes incapacitated. Big decisions take more time, and involve expert counsel from many qualified sources — career, medical, finance, education, etc.
We are to pray, fast, and wait upon the Lord. Counsel to be avoided: The wicked, fortune tellers, and those who are biased by benefiting from the decision. Many of us are continually tempted to be dishonest in our handling of money. Decisions become difficult because around us are many who practice dishonesty. Scripture is very explicit.
God demands absolute honesty. Society is different, everything is relative, there is no God, only if facts can be seen and we can get away with it. God is the God of truth. We escape temptation by living in the Spirit. Have healthy fear of the Lord. When we are dishonest we should 1 restore our fellowship with God by confessing our sins I John 1: Bribes are anything given to another person to influence to do something illegal or wrong. This includes gifts and referral fees.
There are advantages in giving: It directs our hearts to Christ for a closer walk with him. It develops our character. We invest for eternity. It increases our material blessings. The pattern of giving: It ought to be personal, Periodic, set aside, and premeditated. To whom should we give? People usually lean to one of two positions. They either work as little as possible because they dislike it or work overtime because they love it. There should be a balance. Scripture values work but it should be balanced. Work develops our character and provides us with the material means for living.
A biblical perspective of work. Work is so important to God that he assigned Adam to it. God gives the command to work 6 days. If you do not work you do not eat. God gives us the work skills. Our part in work. We work for Christ; therefore work hard.
